Itinerary
To ensure your safety and comfort, we strongly recommend staying overnight in Medan before the tour start, or finding flights with arrival before noon.
Day 1: Arrival in Medan and drive to Bukit Lawang (Bohorok)
Arrive at Kualanamu International Airport, where your friendly driver will be ready to transfer you to your accommodation in Bukit Lawang. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the scenic drive as you journey 135 kilometres (approximately 5 hours) to your homestay. Enjoy a restful evening in this peaceful jungle retreat, preparing for the adventure ahead.
Day 2: Jungle Trekking Begins
Get ready for an exciting day of trekking as you head into Gunung Leuser National Park. Over the next 6-7 hours, you’ll embark on a thrilling hike, encountering lush rainforest terrain and the chance to spot wildlife such as orangutans, gibbons, monkeys, and even hornbills. Your knowledgeable guide will share fascinating insights about the ecosystem, its diverse flora, and wildlife. After a scenic picnic lunch on the trail, the trek continues until your guide sets up an authentic jungle camp beside a tranquil river. Settle into bamboo shelters with tarpaulin covers and enjoy a traditional local dinner your guide prepares. End the day with cards or a relaxing campfire under the stars.
Day 3: Jungle Exploration Continues
Wake up to the symphony of the jungle and start your day with a delicious breakfast at the camp. The adventure continues as you trek deeper into the heart of the rainforest for another 6-7 hours, navigating through rugged terrain while spotting more wildlife and breathtaking views. In the afternoon, camp at another peaceful riverside spot where you can cool off with a refreshing swim. The guides will prepare your dinner, and you’ll have another chance to relax and enjoy the evening amidst the sounds of the wild.
Day 4: Out of the woods and tube down the river
Enjoy a final jungle breakfast before embarking on your last 3-4 hour trek through the rainforest, still in search of tropical wildlife and stunning landscapes. The trek concludes at the river, where you’ll experience the excitement of river tubing, floating down the Bohorok River for about 45 minutes while soaking in the picturesque scenery. After your tubing adventure, you’ll be transferred to Medan, where you’ll check into the airport hotel for a comfortable overnight stay. Rest and unwind before your journey home.
Day 5: Departure
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel before going to the airport for your flight. With unforgettable memories of your Bukit Lawang jungle adventure, our services conclude, and we wish you a safe and pleasant journey ahead.

Information on your tours
– The price is calculated based on the number of people mentioned above. Price is based on per person, and the final price of the trip depends on the departure date and trip planning, including accommodation and activities you choose. The route is merely a sample and can be customised further to adapt to your holiday wishes.
– All of your tour elements are based on private tours, except for the trekking in Bukit Lawang from July to August due to limited Rangers and an increase in visitors. Do not worry; your tent area will be separated from other travellers.
– Our driver doesn’t speak English; therefore, we expect them to primarily communicate the start time, locate a toilet stop, and make stops upon request. However, we will not provide additional services beyond that. Of course, they are happy to assist passengers with luggage and ensure a safe and pleasant journey.
– Private English-speaking guides are available for an additional fee to enhance your journey. You can also reach a 24/7 assistance line with English-speaking support, which is provided in your travel documentation.
